I am a big proponent of sustainable, organic growth for companies. ManageWP for example spends less than 3% of revenue for paid marketing activities. I recently found a great presentation by Kyle Wild of keen.io (through a new and very cool platform for learning called gibbon.co) that talked about the same approach and I could not agree more with it.
Kyle says “You need a truly compelling value proposition and a brand that your customers are proud to represent.” and this I think encapsulates the essence of sustainable growth.
The only time when pouring more and more money into growth makes sense is when you already have organic growth in place (Amazon expansion comes to mind).
